SocraticX produces independent written investigations for people facing important decisions they cannot easily reverse. You bring us a purchase, proposal, partnership, business decision, or other significant commitment where the information may be incomplete, conflicting, difficult to verify, or presented by someone with an interest in the decision you make. We examine the available materials, challenge assumptions, pursue unanswered questions, and deliver a written report explaining what the evidence supports, what remains uncertain, and what should be verified before you commit.
Intelligence Mining is the investigative process used by SocraticX. It combines Socratic inquiry, human judgment, machine intelligence, and evidence review to examine an important decision from multiple angles.
AI is used as a powerful analytical tool to search, compare, test, and connect information. Human judgment directs the inquiry by deciding what should be questioned, which evidence deserves weight, when an answer is insufficient, where the investigation should go next, and ultimately what conclusion is justified by the available evidence.
The objective is not simply to generate more answers. It is to reach a better understanding of what the evidence actually supports, what remains uncertain, and what still needs to be verified.
SocraticX commonly investigates four types of high stakes decisions:
Founder and small business decisions, when a major move such as a new venture, expansion, pivot, partnership, or significant expenditure depends on assumptions that have not been fully tested.
Business purchases and partnerships, after you have received seller information, financial figures, a proposal, or draft agreement but before making a binding commitment.
Proposals, quotations, and claims, when you are evaluating important information presented by someone who may benefit from the decision you make.
Property and land purchases, before making an offer or during the investigation and contingency period, especially where access, land use, utilities, title, insurability, or other practical issues may affect the decision.
If your situation falls outside these categories, describe it briefly and we will tell you whether Intelligence Mining is a good fit.
Email us a short description of the decision you are facing at info@socraticx.ai, using the subject line “Case Preview Request.”
Please include:
- The decision you are facing and what you are considering doing
- Any important deadline or contingency period
- Your main questions or concerns
- Relevant documents, links, reports, quotations, or other materials already available
We normally respond within a few business days.
We will review the submission to determine whether the situation is a good fit for Intelligence Mining. If it is, we will prepare a free Case Specific Investigation Preview outlining what we would investigate, what additional information may be needed, the fixed professional fee, and the expected timeline. There is no obligation to proceed.
The free Case Specific Investigation Preview is a short written scope outline prepared after we review your submission and determine that the situation is suitable for Intelligence Mining.
It outlines:
- The main areas that should be investigated
- The key questions the investigation should attempt to answer
- Any additional documents or information that may be needed
- The proposed scope of the full investigation
- The fixed professional fee and expected timeline
Even if you decide not to proceed, the Preview gives you a structured view of the questions your situation raises, the areas that may require investigation, and what would be needed to investigate them properly.
If an important issue is immediately apparent during our scope review, we may flag it in the Preview, but substantive investigation begins only after engagement.
The Preview defines the investigation. It does not perform the full research or provide conclusions, recommendations, or substantive due diligence findings. There is no obligation to proceed.
Professional fees for comprehensive Intelligence Mining investigations start at $1,500. Every investigation is scoped individually, so the final fee depends on the agreed scope and the work required.
If your case is suitable, your free Case Specific Investigation Preview will state the fixed professional fee before you decide whether to proceed. You will know the complete professional fee in advance, and there is no obligation to proceed after receiving the Preview.
Once you decide to proceed and we have received the necessary materials, the typical turnaround is 7 to 14 business days. More complex investigations may require additional time, and the expected timeline will be stated in your free Case Specific Investigation Preview before you decide whether to proceed.
If you are working within a contingency period or another important deadline, tell us in your first email. We will let you know whether the required timeline appears achievable before you commit.
You receive a Comprehensive Intelligence Mining Insight Report tailored to your case and the investigation scope agreed in advance.
The report is organized around the areas investigated and explains the relevant findings, risks, unresolved questions, alternative interpretations, and recommended next steps. It distinguishes what the available evidence supports from what remains uncertain or requires additional verification.
You can see a real example of the type of written investigation we produce on our Sample Report page.
AI can generate useful and highly plausible answers quickly. The harder part in an important investigation is often knowing what to question, which assumptions to test, what evidence to compare, and when an apparent answer is not sufficient.
More than 25 years of philosophical inquiry have shaped the questioning discipline behind SocraticX. That background has developed a habit of looking beneath the first answer, challenging assumptions, and asking what may not yet have been asked.
In one published SocraticX investigation, the road physically used to reach a property did not appear to match the legal access easement described in the title record. Identifying the issue required comparing documents, maps, historic records, agency information, and professional verification rather than simply asking for an answer to a known problem.
That is the role of SocraticX. AI provides powerful analytical capability, but human judgment directs the inquiry, decides what deserves further investigation, connects evidence across different sources, and ultimately determines what conclusions are justified.
No. SocraticX does not replace legal, medical, financial, engineering, tax, accounting, or other licensed professional advice. It is also not a substitute for a survey, appraisal, inspection, title opinion, or other specialist evaluation that may be required for your particular decision.
Our role is to investigate the reasoning, evidence, assumptions, contradictions, and unanswered questions surrounding the decision. When specialist verification is needed, identifying which type of specialist should be consulted and what should be verified or asked can itself be an important part of the investigation.
The completed report will be measured against the investigation scope agreed with you in advance.
If you believe the report materially fails to address that agreed scope, notify us within 14 days of delivery. We will first correct or complete the report at no additional professional fee. If, after that correction, the report still materially fails to address the agreed scope, we will refund the professional fee paid for the investigation.
Third party expenses or disbursements that you specifically approved in advance are nonrefundable.
No. Intelligence Mining does not begin with the assumption that something must be wrong. A credible investigation must be equally willing to conclude that the available evidence supports the original decision.
Sometimes an investigation identifies material risks, contradictions, or unanswered questions. In other cases, the evidence may largely support proceeding, while clarifying which uncertainties have been resolved and which still remain.
Even when no material problem is found, the client receives a documented basis for the decision, a clearer record of what has been investigated, and identification of any remaining questions or verification that may still be appropriate.
Our commitment is to investigate the agreed scope rigorously and report honestly what the evidence supports, what remains uncertain, and what still requires verification. The value of the investigation does not depend on finding a problem.
Yes. Information submitted to SocraticX is treated as confidential and used only for evaluating and performing the work you request.
We do not publish or disclose client case details without permission, except where disclosure is required by law or is necessary to provide a service you have authorized. If client work is ever published as an example, it is done only with the client’s permission, with identifying or sensitive information removed or redacted where appropriate.
If an investigation indicates that verification by a lawyer, accountant, engineer, medical professional, or other specialist may be appropriate, your information will not be sent to that specialist on your behalf without your authorization.
